Mary Ellen Parrott (May 4, 1943–Feb. 24, 2024) It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and Sage Lake Association treasurer, Mary Ellen Parrott. She passed away on Feb. 24 at the age of 80 in Mesa, Arizona, where she and her husband, Bill, have lived in the winter months. Her legacy with the Sage Lake Association is rich, and her decades of leadership will be missed. Mary Ellen served as president 20 years ago and continued her association involvement for years as treasurer. She mentored many board members as they joined the association and became more involved. Mary Ellen had excellent database management skills, which she put to good use tracking the association's growing membership. She was incredibly proud to watch that growth and witness the SLA's continuous evolution as a positive resource for the Sage Lake community. Mary Ellen also organized the popular Kids' Fun Day for many years and volunteered countless hours to help the Sage Lake community in any way she could. She was an early leader in lake management and fish stocking, important work that continues today. We have lost a great leader, mentor and friend, and she will be missed. Mary Ellen's Fun Day Fund In her memory, the Sage Lake Association has established Mary Ellen's Fun Day fund, supporting an event that was close to her heart. Contributions to the fund will help the event continue to serve the lake's youngest fans with an afternoon carnival on the second Saturday of each July. |
