Sage Lake Association

WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL SAGE LAKE

Whether you own a home on the lake, live nearby and like to visit, or are considering a trip to northern Michigan, we’re glad you’ve found us.

Sage Lake is a 785-acre all-sports lake in Ogemaw County, Michigan. It’s located north of M-55, 16 miles east of West Branch, and 22 miles west of Tawas City. The lake features three islands and a public boat launch managed by the DNR. We have a mix of seasonal homes and year-round residences, with some families boasting four generations (or more!) of Sage Lakers.

The Sage Lake Association was organized for the betterment and preservation of Sage Lake. It is devoted to finding solutions to problems and promoting positive activities affecting Sage Lake and the members of the association. The SLA is responsible for maintaining the lake level at the DNR-established levels. We’re supported by membership dues, donations and proceeds from our fundraisers. The Sage Lake Association is a 501(c)(3) organization.

Lake Initiatives

Lake Management

We focus on controlling the exotic invasive submerged Eurasian watermilfoil, starry stonewort, and emergent purple loosestrife in and around Sage Lake. This is essential for the long-term preservation of the favorable native aquatic plant communities in our lake.

Firecraker 5K

This summer, Sage Lake hosts the 10th annual Firecracker 5K fun run and kids’ race. This popular event has been instrumental in raising thousands of dollars to fund activities and initiatives at the lake year-round. Hundreds of people participate in the event each year.

Fish Survey

Anglers of all ages are encouraged to record their catches using Sage Lake’s very own digital fish survey. The data will be used to help the Sage Lake Association's fishing committee understand the needs and habits of anglers and to better understand the lake’s fishery.
